Boat Rental Policies & Safety Guide

RENTAL BOAT HANDLING

  • You will be shown how to start/restart the engine including: Choke position, manual choke, primer bulb, etc.

  • You will be shown boat controls including: throttle, forward & reverse, etc.

  • Speed limit is 5 MPH at all times; no wake.

  • Boat must be returned to the same dock as it was launched from.

  • Boat must be returned at the end of rental period, no later or security deposit may be forfeited.

  • Boats cannot be beached anywhere on the shoreline (except kayaks). During rental period you may return to the marina at any time, then resume boating for the duration of rental period.

  • Boats must stay at least 100 feet away from the shoreline, dam and spillway or any other area determined by marina staff.

BOAT SAFETY REGULATIONS

  • Observe state and federal boating laws and safety regulations. Coast Guard regulations place the responsibility for the safety of the passengers and boat upon the operator of the boat.

  • Wear personal flotation devices at all times when boat is in operation.

  • Customer is hereby notified that the throwable device, in addition to being a cushion, is a piece of lifesaving equipment that will support a person in the water.

  • No boating between sunset and sunrise.

  • There are shallow water areas in the lake. Restricted boating areas must be adhered to at all times.

  • Children under age 13 must wear a life jacket at all times.

  • It is prohibited to operate any watercraft while under the influence of drugs or alcohol or in a reckless or negligent manner, or in a manner that endangers or is likely to endanger persons or property. Non-compliance may result in forfeiture of security deposit.

  • Customer acknowledges the review of upcoming weather conditions and Weather Policy.

  • Exceeding the maximum passenger capacity may result in forfeiture of security deposit, and/or citations from law enforcement agencies.

  • Damage to boat and/or equipment, violation(s) of the rental contract, and/or rules/regulations of the lake may result in forfeiture of renter’s security deposit, and/or citations from law enforcement agencies. Renter’s liability is not limited to the amount of security deposit.

  • All accidents, wherein damages to the boat exceed $200.00 or involves another vessel or there is damage to other property or equipment, regardless of amount, must be reported to local law enforcement authorities for immediate investigation.

  • Prohibited: Barbecuing on-board any rental boat, containers of fuel on-board, alcohol on-board, transportation of personal watercraft and/or heavy equipment, swimming from rental boat.
